Unreal 5 project

Spent a weekend nursing a summer cold… But since I was confined to the house I had time to look into Unreal 5 and ended up making this! I’m using the Greebles pack from “Technouveau” and tutorials from “Bad Decisions” on Youtube – maybe I’ll go and design a spaceship next.. 🤓

5 second zoom in

I’m impressed at the high quality renders and speed at which the engine runs even with complex geometry and shaders! – it’s kind of addictive! It took a while to harmonize the new assets with the traditional Star Wars troopers and spacecraft, but I think it came out ok, it feels like an imperial outpost of sorts..

Sometimes scaling needs to be tweaked to fit the scene.. In this case the center ship got a little too big

Holidays, Void Crew and LEGO

During the recent holidays I started building Void Crew models just for entertainment purposes, but I quickly ran out of bricks the right color and size so I took the project online where I found LeoCAD
( freeware LEGO builder from 1997, that still runs great on any machine ) you can find it here.

The project became way more ambitious when I suddenly had access to unlimited legacy bricks, so I decided to build a version of the Metem Destroyer from Void Crew.

Scale wise it’s not really big enough for minifigures, but it was an interesting challenge to interpolate the design  and there’s some silly choices in there, especially the airlock, which is a screen door brick I think

Anyway, I just wanted to share the result here if anyone else is both a Void Crew and LEGO fan and want to keep building on the model I made or create their own. LeoCAD is free and the  native format is .ldr – You should be able to use it if I upload it to a drive link here

I suppose next step is to go and create a bigger model that will allow for minifigures inside OR go and order the bricks for this one and try building it RL – anyway, have a great 2024 ya’ll 🙂

Oh boy! New toy!

So a while back I posted about the ship I designed for Eve Online and the article got a bit of attention. Enough for a fan to make me aware that a third party SLA printing company named Mixed Dimensions are now selling the Eve Online ships as scale models. Naturally I had to get the one I helped conceive and whad’ya know, it arrived today, Hussah, my very own toy! – You too can pick one up by vising their website here.

Some time further back I was also made aware that the ship stars in the Valkyrie spin off from Eve, you can see it several times in the youtube film below. As a science fiction fan I am thrilled to have been a part of the process, hopefully more space ship projects will come along in the future 🙂

Posted below here is a quick photo of the toy standing on the poster I received when the winners were selected, along with CCP team member signatures. If I wasn’t motivated to get my hands on a resin printer before, I surely am now, just look at that quality – it even does surface colors 😀
